Volunteer

Why should you volunteer with the EVBA?

Support your student and their bandmates.

Take the burden off a small marching band staff and to free up band staff time to create a championship performance.

Make your voice heard and be part of the decision making process for the EVBA.

Enjoy the music, showmanship, spectacle and pageantry of the marching band experience.

Develop new friendships and get to know the parents of students (and the students) who become your student’s second family.

Do all families need to volunteer? How do I find out about volunteer opportunities? Do I need training?

The Marching Viking students and directors rely heavily on parent volunteers to make the band program successful. The students and directors CANNOT do it all alone. For example, there are over 100 volunteer tasks just to operate the Outdoor Home Show. With approximately 55 students in the Outdoor program, this means we need parents volunteering for at least one task during that event. With almost the same amount of tasks at the Indoor Home Show, we need our Outdoor only parents to come out and volunteer to support the Indoor Program - the proceeds of which fund the Outdoor Program.

There is a wide variety of things to do: moving pit/percussion equipment, concessions stand, help with uniforms, serve meals, drive equipment trucks, and more. No training is required, you will be given instructions before any event and upon your arrival! It is a great way to help the EVBA, support the students and directors, and get to know the students and EVBA members better!

Volunteer opportunities as emailed, posted on the Band App and listed below. Additional volunteer needs, or shortages of volunteers are also communicated via email and on the Band App from the EVBA President.

Check with your employer! Sometimes they offer special cash matching or Paid Time Off opportunities for volunteer service.
